Play Kalooki 40
Kalooki 40 is also known as
Kaluki or Kalookie. It is a card game which very often uses wildcards. There are a few variations of Kalooki 40 which are played all over the world. One very popular version of
Kalooki 40 is the European version of this game. The card deck normally consists of 106 cards which would include two Jokers too. The number of players allowed is two to five. A Joker is given the value of 15 points. A Joker can take the value of the card it plans to represent. But if it is not used and left in the hand then it is given a value of 15 points. The players playing
Kalooki 40 should aim to play all the cards by melding them.
The players who take part in the
Kalooki 40 will keep getting penalty points time to time. The player who gets more than 150 penalty points is thrown out from the game of
Kalooki 40. The player who remains at the end is considered as the winner. The stakes in this game can change from one place to anther and are normally decided by the players themselves before they start playing the game. A draw of cards decides who will deal and the order of the game too. An Ace, two, three, four and five are used to decide the order. The player who gets the Ace can choose the seat of his choice and deal first. Every player gets a total of 13 cards.
Players can draw cards from the stack on the table or from the discarded pile. Melding is done in two ways – runs or sets. A set would use three or four cards of the same rank and different suits. A run would be made up of, three or more cards of the same suit, in sequence. The play ends when one of the players manages to meld all the cards. When all the 13 cards are melded on the same turn, it is known as Kalooki and the player earns a large point bonus.
